Entrepreneurs have many of the same character traits as leaders, similar to the early great man theories of leadership; however trait-based theories of entrepreneurship are increasingly being called into question. Entrepreneurs are often contrasted with managers and administrators who are said to be more methodical and less prone to risk-taking. Such person-centric models of entrepreneurship have shown to be of questionable validity, not least as many real-life entrepreneurs operate in teams rather than as single individuals. Still, a vast literature studying the entrepreneurial personality found that certain traits seem to be associated with entrepreneurs:
Other characteristics include
An entrepreneur has inspiration, motivation and sensibility. |

I have so much to learn, so much... I am such a naive child sometimes (with what i can achieve that is). But i am ready to change my whole world just to be someone more thant just a "blonde girl with money" as some people might assume... My problem is... that i diluted my path... Havent written here in a while. Well i am working on a project, which requires me to design a new smudge resistant long lasting mascara from a formulation scientist point of view. I looked up the basics behind it... And i am stuck. I am stuck because i am bloody bored! Mascara, mascara... I am not the chemistry geeks ladies and gentlemen... And i am ashamed of it. I wish i got to write how some chemicals can make your lashes fall off, that would be much more exciting! Anyway, i'll let you know how that goes later... p.s.Found a one day english grammar course in London... I need it, so i can write better english and actually know where english supposed to have punctuation, because in Russia it's in completley different places (apart from full stops of course) |

To whom it may concern, I am a russian student graduated with a BSc in Biochemistry (Neuroscience) from university of Surrey (UK). I was very interested in applying for an MSc at the University of Copenhagen, however i am not sure which MSc i am more interested in Biochemistry or Molecular Biomedicine. I have been trying to find out which courses for these programms are avaliable to choose and which are core corses, however i havent found sufficient information on the website. Could you please give me a rough idea of what would be avaliable by providing me with the courses for the academic year 2008-2009 please (For MSC in Biochemistry and Molecular Biomedicine). Kind regards, Varvara Pamfilova |

Electric microcurrent in the restoration of the skin undergone a trichloroacetic acid peeling in rats Discussion ...In terms of stimulating effects of electric currents and ATP formation on cutaneous tissue, there are reports stating that during the MENS application electrons react with water molecules by their cathodic side (to produce hydroxyl ions), while protons are formed in the anodic side4. Thus, between anodic and cathodic interfaces a protons potential gradient run through the tissue, so creating an electric field. As a consequence, protons being influenced by both electric field and concentration difference should move from anode to cathode, provided that protons formation on anodic interface is present. If protons consumption in cathodic side is the same, system's pH (medium and tissue) remains without any interference. Substract oxidation, which is followed by protons migration through membranes, may be similarly electrically stimulated by protons induced current which activates a feedback process. Cheng et al4 showed that DNA metabolism is not affected by electrical stimulation and inhibition effects, by suggesting that stimulating and inhibiting effects over the protein synthesis activity occur independently of the effects on the transition process between anode and cathode. Another interpretation for MENS in the restoration process is due to the H+ ions migration, since they are responsible for preparing the ATP obtaining process, and afterwards by its posterior storage into cytoplasm. In spite of some authors state the importance of the electrodes polarity change on the lesion7,8, the present study disagrees, since it was already verified in the pilot plan that, because it is a pulse current, having anode and cathode around the lesion is important. The present study also suggested that periods for evaluation of lesion areas percentages should be lower, in order to achieve a higher accuracy in the restoration time when using MENS. New studies, with different kinds of electrical currents and other physical agents should be carried out aiming to contribute towards this investigation area. Thus, the importance of other studies on MENS, but directed to the human skin restoration was evidenced, since the existing literature is still scarce. Conclusion Microcurrent Electrical Neuromuscular Stimulation (MENS) reduces the restoration lengh of rats skin undergone TCA peeling. |

A girl called Emma lives with me and she has just graduated with an MSc in Toxicology. An interesting thing Emma has told me- there are changes comming in pharmaceutical and cosmeceutical industries in Europe, and not all of them are good fro the Science. First of all any substance that will be on the market, be it herbal or synthesized, have to be thoroughly studied and registered. So here all the herbal wonder pills going out of the window, unless produced by a big company on a large scale... because only they can afford to do all the testing. These, of course are good news, because many herbal and natural ingredients either react with some prescription drugs, or they bind to proteins in our bodies (e.g.carriers or P450s in Liver) and mess prescription drug's metabolism. On the other hand thay are going to bring in a "rule" of no animal testing for cosmetics at all! That means that:

The frequency with which women eat may be as important a determinant of fetal growth and well-being as the amount they eat, the quality of their diet, and the amount of weight they gain during gestation (1-5). During pregnancy, even a 12 hour overnight fast is associated with a drop in maternal serum glucose and a rise in maternal serum free fatty acids and ketones (1). This is concerning because ketones do not provide adequate fuel for the fetal brain (5). Thus maternal ketonaemia may impair the intellectual development of the off-spring (5). Hypoglycemia also activates the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal-placental axis (1-3). The resultant rise in the level of corticotrophin releasing hormone and prostaglandins could precipitate preterm labor (6, 7). Conversely women who eat too frequently during gestation are at risk for excessive weight gain and associated morbidities ranging from gestational diabetes and fetal macrosomia to caesarian delivery and postpartum obesity (4, 8, 9). The Institute of Medicine recommends that women eat 3 meals and at least 2 snacks per day and avoid prolonged periods of starvation (10). However, studies in pregnant teenagers suggest that 3 meals and 3 snacks are optimal (4). Teenagers who eat fewer than 3 snacks per day gain an inadequate amount of weight during gestation and those who eat 4 or more snacks per day gain an excessive amount of weight during gestation (4). |

Today i caught myself again wondering between the perfume shelves in town. Why, just why do i keep coming back to those beautiful elegant bottles filled with gorgeous fragrances? Why is the perfumery so successful? I came to a conclusion. Humans, just like most animals, have a relatively well developed sense of smell. Not only it allows us to determine the degree of poison or nutrients in the food, we have a very strong memory association with smells. Smell is almost as important as sight or taste to us. Have you ever tasted coffee with your nose pinched? You will be surprised, but coffee doesnt have much of a taste. The beauty of coffee is in it's smell. Many people seek a perfume that would represent them in this society. It has to tell a quick story about the owner, his mood, his status and his character. Human pheromones have not been understood yet and this is our simple answer to the lack of natural smells (we are too clean people, we shower too much!). Through years i have been trying to discover my signature smell. I found it nearly impossible to stick to one perfume. For the past two years however i have certainly preferred two scents above the rest- they represent me at this stage of my life for sure. ![]() ![]() Tell me, what do YOU smell like? |
